The name Physis appeared in the ancient Greece and it designates that which blooms, opens, emerges by itself, the unclasping which appears from itself and manifests itself in this development, putting itself in evidence. The sky and the land, the stone, the animal and the human beings and the gods belong to Physis. There is no separation between the environment and the human being, nature and the divine.

PHYSIS: OUR OBJECTIVES, OUR PHILOSOPHY

Physis - Cultura & Ambiente wants to spread out the importance of educating people so that they act in a responsible way with sensibility, while conserving a healthy environment in the present and for the future. So that people know how to demand and respect the collective and individual rights, change themselves and also the environment to which they belong.

These objectives have been the target of our team in projects such as those in Environmental Education and Interpretation and Ecotourism, while participating in the discussions to define public policies, in researches, in courses, lectures and other activities -- and also, in training personnel capable of multiplying our ideas. The same has been done while establishing partnerships that make deeper results possible.

Physis expects to extend its performance with groups of students and with the communities that live close to the destinations visited in the protected areas, as well as concluding successfully the projects in progress, such as UNIPARQUE, the elaboration of a documentary movie, the 'Physis' book, the Environmental Education and Interpretation and Ecotourism activities and the continuous qualification of working teams.

TRANS-DISCIPLINARITY AS AN INSTRUMENT

Physis gathers professionals from many areas of knowledge to elaborate/promote activities and break with the fragmented interpretation of reality. The integration between psychological, biological, historical, geographic and social aspects, allows a closer acquaintance of reality, and not of the specific theory of each one of the areas of knowledge.

The activities have the objective of changing the idea which places knowledge as something distant, approaching individuals to the reality that is being studied, besides searching for an interaction between sense and sensibility. We work with music, texts, poems, playful activities and, specially, with experiences (activities where we stimulate different forms of contact between individuals and of them with the environment), where we search for new meanings for the environmental problems and how to deal with them.

WORKING IN PARTNERSHIP

All of our projects are of common interest and, usually, take place in locations where many other activities are being developed with the purpose of achieving the sustainability and conservation of these places. Physis has tried to join many of these projects and has invited all of them to participate in its projects to unite efforts in order of reaching common objectives. Such partnerships are made both with public agencies as well as the civil society (organized or not) and with the business sector.
